WHO WE ARE
We are a family-owned winery committed to the old-world style of wine making. Paul Schmitz is the owner and has always had a passion for making wine. Paul first started making commercial wine in 2012 and opened up 24 Brix on Highway 49 in February of 2015. He first started out in his backyard making red table wine, however after meeting Luciano, a Master Chef from Chincotere Italy while in the restaurant business, Luciano taught him the old-world style of Italian wine making and Paul has been using this process ever since. Paul then spent the next 10 years working in the Napa Valley region learning and perfecting his wine palate.

OUR GRAPES
We purchase grapes from all northern and central California appellations such as Lake County, Livermore Valley, and Paso Robles. The California vineyards we choose to purchase our grapes from are grown with sustainability in mind at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,800 feet. The rich red clay soil is hearty with granite and minerals which develop the fruit into robust juice with depth of flavor.
We follow natural wine making methods and gentle harvesting practices minimizing the bruising, bringing only the finest fruit to the winery. We harvest at or close to 24 BRIX, the natural sugar level we feel is the optimal ripeness that dramatically influences the wines quality and flavors. We ferment the grapes with naturally occurring vineyard native yeast, which imparts more complexity and richness to the wine. We then use our passion to handcraft food-friendly, balanced, and elegant wines, which make your taste buds ask for more.
